About
To promote an eco-friendlier driving style, Swedish petroleum company Preem launched “Eco Run” – a computer game that’s not about raising hell, but raising awareness. The fastest driver with the lowest CO2-emissions wins.

The game style was an homage to old school racing games. We wanted to keep things authentic and create a javascript implementation of Mode7, an old 90s trick to get 3D-style environments on SNES (read more about that here).

We also wanted to create recognisable Swedish environments, roads and road-signs. This couldn’t have been put together without the amazingly talented pixel artist Douglas Kalberg and musician Mattias Hjalmarsson. You can play the game here.
